How to measure your window

Always use a metal rule, measuring the width first and the height second in millimetres or inches. Decide whether you wish to fix the blind on the inside or outside of the window recess.

On inside recess measure width and height in several places and always order the smaller size. We then make small deductions to allow for easy fitting. On outside recess blinds, we recommend a 75mm overlap on each measurement, and order blind size (on a roller blind this will be fabric width). If there is a window ledge measure the blind to stop just above it, or fit the blind on a batten to clear it.

If it would help you, send us a digital image of your window with the sizes marked on.

Purchasing your VELUX blinds

1. Check your window code - every VELUX roof window carries a unique data plate that details the type and size of the window . Check your window's type and size. No measurements are needed.

2. Check your data plate - This specifies both the window model and the size (for example model code GGL). However the size code varies depending on the age of your window (for example S06, 606 or 4).
